Application guide

Everything to know before you start.

From the first application to a steady routine — how to apply, how often, how long, and what to watch for. For building the habit, read our practical guide in the blog.

What's in the pack

Opening your pack.

Each Scarless pack arrives sealed with the tube inside its carton. Here's what to look for.

  • The 15 g tube

A sealed, precision-filled 15 g tube — enough for a typical course on a small to medium scar.

  • Carton & information

Outer carton with the batch number, expiration date, and full ingredient list printed on it. Keep the carton for reference.

Step by step

Applying Scarless, in four steps.

The routine is quick and the same whether you're treating a new scar or an old one. The most important rule comes first: the skin must be healed and dry.

  1. Clean and fully dry the area

Gently clean the scar and the skin around it, then dry it completely. Silicone gel only adheres properly to clean, fully dry skin.

  2. Make sure the skin has healed

Apply only after the wound has closed and any sutures are removed — not on open wounds. Begin roughly two weeks post-procedure once the skin has healed.

  3. Apply a thin layer

Squeeze out a small amount and spread a thin layer over the scar. Rub in gently until it dries. A thin film is enough — more gel is not better.

  4. Let it dry, then re-cap

Allow the film to self-dry for a few minutes before covering with clothing. Once dry, cosmetics or sunscreen can be applied over it. Re-cap the tube and store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.

For specific procedural detail, always follow the instructions printed in your pack.

How often, and for how long

Frequency and timeline.

Scarless uses one simple routine — a thin layer two to three times daily. How long you continue depends on the scar.

  • New scars

    Routine

Thin layer, 2–3× daily, 2–3 months

Start once the wound has closed and sutures are removed. Apply a thin layer two to three times daily for two to three months.

  • Older or mature scars

    Routine

Thin layer, 2–3× daily, 3 months or longer

Established scars take longer. Continue the same routine; a full course runs three months or longer.

  • Preventing abnormal scars

    Routine

Thin layer, 2–3× daily, from ~2 weeks post-procedure

To help prevent raised or abnormal scarring, begin as soon as the skin has fully healed and keep the routine consistent through the early weeks.

If a scar is painful, growing, or not improving after a full course, your doctor or pharmacist can help guide the right approach.

Best practices

Getting the most from each course.

A short list of habits that help Scarless work well, and a few things to avoid.

  • Be consistent

Daily, repeated application matters more than any single dose. Apply two to three times a day and keep going through the full course — scars respond to consistency over weeks.

  • Only on clean, dry skin

Always apply to skin that is fully clean and dry. Moisture or residue stops the silicone film from forming and adhering properly.

  • Let it dry before layering

Give the film a few minutes to self-dry. Once dry, you can apply cosmetics or sunscreen over it — sun protection is especially helpful for keeping scar tone even.

  • Store and check

Keep the tube at room temperature, away from direct sunlight and heat. Re-cap securely after each use, and check the expiration date on the carton before use.

Stop and consult

When to see your doctor.

Scarless is well tolerated by most people, but anyone using a topical product should know what signs warrant a check-in. If you notice any of these, stop using Scarless and seek advice.

  • Signs of infection

Spreading redness, warmth, swelling, or any discharge from the scar can signal an infection. This isn't about Scarless specifically — it's a sign the area needs a doctor's attention.

  • Persistent pain or burning

A brief, mild sensation at first use can happen with any topical product and usually settles. Persistent or worsening pain or burning is a reason to stop and consult.

  • New irritation or rash

Localized rash, hives, swelling, or itching that you didn't have before starting Scarless may indicate sensitivity to an ingredient. Stop using and consult before resuming.

  • No improvement after a course

If a scar hasn't improved after a full course, or is getting larger or more raised, the scar may need a more specific assessment. Your doctor can advise on next steps.

In case of severe allergic reaction

If you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or widespread hives), stop using Scarless and seek emergency medical care immediately.
